A trip to Kaikoura
On a winter day out in Kaikoura, we launched at Oaro on a perfect morning, the ocean was flat and the sun had risen. Four of the guys got a head start and paddled out to the deeper drop off. A whale was seen and a large pod of dolphins went passing by. Sea perch and the odd small shark were hooked out there. The other four of us headed to the cray pots, and skate, dogfish, barracouta and the odd blue cod were caught out here.
Can you eat these?
Ollie (gollyfish) with a skate up in Kaikoura "Now what do I do with it?"
Oh now what?
Doug (Yakkaman) another spiny dogfish "Now how do I get this mess of hooks undone? Oh good one it's trying to bite me"
Keneperu in April
Ollie headed up to Keneperu early April 2009 and got a fine catch of Snapper. He met up with Thomas, however fishing went slow the next day and the wind came up, so they ended up land based.
